Staple the Label Top (similar by Finders Keepers here), Asos Pleated Skirt, Chloe Boots,

Laura messaged me the morning of the Style and the City launch asking what I planned to wear. Colour was the obvious choice- Sex and the City is full of colour, print and eclectic touches. So I obviously wanted to wear black, or grey. Anything but colour. Go against the grain wherever possible!
This look didn't feel too dressed up for a Friday morning either (although if I'd worn a pair of pumps…) but I tell you what, wearing t-shirt fabric head-to-toe is super comfy! Win. I love this boxy top, I got it ages ago and wear it a lot, I spotted a pretty similar one on sale at Fashn Bunkr, if I didn't have this one already I would be adding it to cart directly. I do head to toe black or white all the time, grey is somehow a little different, but I like it, I like the 'nothingness' it exudes. This morning I heard people talking about 'normcore' in reference to the opening of Uniqlo today in Melbourne. Damn well I love that, I am SOOOO NOT into faux tan, faux hair extensions, faux nails, boobs exposed, tightly clung super short anything dressing. Term dressing in an undone way with a little more flair than 'I just rolled out of bed in this' and I am okay with that. Just call me 'grey-marle-normcore-lady'.

I probably should start wearing different boots. Actually, I have to start wearing different boots before I kill these entirely. When I go back to Adelaide I am bringing back more ankle boots from my boxes of stuff! Same goes with a different bag. Meh.

I love discovering places. As Heidy and I attended a fashion preview for Villa Laguna this week in Cottesloe, I happily fell for The Beach Club, a recently renovated hot spot. Apparently this place used to leave a little to be desired, but, now it is calling us and warmer weather.
After the show, we quickly snapped these before the rain kicked in and blew us away anymore.
I am loving any excuse to wear this ASOS stripe top, and my Katherine Dunmill Mind Games of a Scandalous Rouge necklige (on sale here for $56!).
You can see my ankle is still strapped, (did anyone notice how swollen it was in my Hatch Week shots- I swear I only wore heels for the photos!) so flats are still a must.

Capsule Wardrobe Vol 2.0

 photo Capsule5_zps85382b8a.jpg

 photo Capsule5c_zps658046ca.jpg

Continuing on in my Capsule Wardrobe series... last time I talked Casual, Work and Cocktails, read it here.

EVERY DAY
Jeans and a t-shirt, simple, comfortable and accessible.
Anyone can wear this, and should feel free to.
I probably wear these boots too much but I love them. I twisted my ankle the other week, and have only attempted heels once since, these semi heel boots have been saving me. They are loose, a good heel height and great quality.
Truth be told, my love of rock music, is something I tend to want to share with the world. I never know who any pop stars are, it takes a long time for me to work out who the big artists are (more than a year before I worked out who Lady gaga was- not kidding). Rock though- I am all about that.

MEETINGS
I have worn a variation of this to work, then to fashion events, and meetings. It is a good outfit when you have to go from one thing to another without time to change.
I love a pencil skirt, and pairing it with grey marle and an interesting hem line? Love. I like that I can throw this together with a white or black shirt, blazer, or a block colour for something different. I know grey is a bit of a nothing colour, (as talked about here) but it goes well with everything, so any piece of clothing in grey is good in my books.
Neoprene is not for everyone, but personally, I can't get enough.
For some reason I do like to wear pink, (despite what Karl says), it makes a nice change.
This Vivienne Westwood bag I have had for YEARS, it fits a lot in, the plaid somehow manages to work with a lot of outfits- I particularly enjoy when it clashes with the rest of the look (to an extent- I won't pair it with yellow). I talked about these heels last time- prepare to see the same items a few times, capsule wardrobe and all.

WINTER

So it does get cold here, and this teal coat has been my favourite winter coat for years. I spotted this one in Madison magazine then hunted it down from Sportsgirl of all places, back in 2008. Teal is a beautiful colour, in small doses. I am a sucker for military inspired coats, this one fits like a glove and keeps me warm.
These Italian wool leggings are warm, feel beautiful, and tick a few sporty boxes.
Pairing them with an oversized shirt, or this lace top makes it feel less like I am wearing leggings as pants. :)

Sportsgirl Coat, Flannel Lace Top, Alexander Wang Leggings, Ballet flats, Mimco Quilted Wallet, and Oroton Notebook.

You never know what you are going to find, or where you will end up, when you turn a corner.
After a morning of meetings, Heidy and I looked for a good spot to shoot, happily finding this urban loading dock. The bustle of a busy Lawley Bakery (inside) never heard my clomp-jingle sound as I climbed the loading dock stairs and bay.
This dress as shared in my last capsule wardrobe post- paired with heels, when paired with my favourite boots, becomes another happy outfit. Who needs a giant heel anyway?
Heidy and I have some exciting new projects to come, looking forward to sharing these with you!

Wearing: Josh Goot Blouse (similar here), ASOS Linen wrap skirt, Chloe Suzanna Studded Boots (available for pre-order in black with gold studs or in another fun colour here). Vivienne Westwood Bag

Sunshine! Blissful.
So you know how I mentioned in the last post that I packed really light, and well Yadda yadda... ?
I didn't bring conditioner. :(
Then the weather proceeded to be on the drizzly side, and I encountered a lot of frizzy flyaway business. Now, I wasn't going to a fashion parade, so in reality it didn't make one difference.
However, you can see it in all of the posts.
So, the lesson is, when packing, if the bottle is too big, what do we do?
Decant into a mini bottle and take the best of your beauty favourites with you.
With this in mind I decided to add some silly hair flicking photos into this post.
Including one of me flicking hair all over my face. So cool. :)

Let's move on. Truffles are pretty amazing, and we made a point of having lunch at the Wine and Truffle Farm. No pig sightings, but plenty of cows and geese.
The truffle topped lunches were delicious, as was the red blend we got to match.
If you are a fan, or need a good lunch while down Pemberton way, I highly recommend it.
This linen wrap skirt from ASOS is the best thing right now. It is only $30 and I am hands down tempted to get the white one too. So good!
I had my eye on this monochrome Josh Goot blouse for years, since it's runway debut, but finding it took me a labour of love. Having an inspiration folder on my desktop, or adding something to my 'Wanted' Pinterest board keeps me focused so that I don't waste money on items. In theory. I currently have one over stuffed rack of clothes that I have to sell, which proves that buying something because it is on sale, is an easy way to accumulate pieces that hang around unworn.
New leaf?

This afternoon while I was photographing one of the venues I am working on, I decided to head up to the upper level and take a few quick snaps while the light was good. Sadly I only had a point and shoot with me, but you get the idea. This washed look oversized tee is so comfortable, worn over this scuba style skater skirt it is easy, and fun. This skirt is so spin-y! I probably should have been wearing heels, but since it was Friday, and I had no meetings I decided to wear these Chloe boots instead. They are the most comfortable shoe. I wear them to death. People hear me stomp and jangle as I walk by in them, and then comment as I go "those are the best shoes dude" etc. "Cheers man" I say over my shoulder with a knowing nod. :)
I had never bought anything from Forever New before, that store is overall too girly for me, but while shopping with a friend, who encouraged me to try it on, I kinda loved this skirt. Sigh, the weekend.

Oh hello!
I promised that I would make time to blog this year while working on the Cabaret Festival, but, it means I have less time to shoot outfit photos etc. Over the past two weeks I have been busily making the most of Adelaide, attending Autumn/Winter Launches and runway shows (and subsequent after parties- why not?), seeing as much as I can from the Alliance French Film Festival (I watch more films that come out of France than any other country and always want to see at least 50% of the program) and attending the highly anticipated Harris Scarfe re-launch.
Oh, all while working on Cabaret in preparation for our program launch next weekend!
Above are quick snaps from the launches, as well as a few behind the scenes shots from my Cabaret work.

While I am not usually someone who falls head over heels for a new trend, there are key things that rotate in and out of the fashion hit list, and some of those I love. Monochromatic dressing is all over every collection this A/W and I couldn't be happier about that (you, know, as long as it is done well, obviously.) While I am sick of seeing laser cut lace, rainbow bright prints and flatforms, I have happily seen clean lines, great graphic jumpers and gorgeous statement neck pieces. Lisa Ho launched an awesome new collection, using of course the best quality fabrics, her prints (this time paired down to a few colours) and stunning jewellery. I love the cashmere ant jumper, black and white bomber jacket and skirt. The Adelaide store, on Rundle Street East is one of the best places to go for Bridal in Adelaide, and the taxidermy butterflies charm me every time.

The Rundle Mall A/W13 runway featured the great stores in the heart of the CBD, I loved seeing Ellery from Whistles, gorgeous silks and bags from Oroton, and European pieces from David Jones. Come winter it is so easy to slip into black, grey and dark clothing, which is fine, but I am actually thinking a few bold and bright pieces are actually more refreshing. Maybe that is why a red umbrella and a yellow rain jacket in winter are so fun. (But not together!)

I feel like all eyes have been on Adelaide for last weekends Harris Scarfe re-launch. We were not disappointed! As managing director Joe Barberis said, this was Cinderella's moment to shine, having hidden behind her 'Sisters' for so long. While my family have shopped at HS forever I tended to disregard it, but the new Boutique HS collection features some impressive pieces to incorporate into any wardrobe. Of course the BIG excitement for me was Vogue Australia's Christine Centenera styling the opening looks for the runway show. The styling was impeccable, this was elegant, sleek and new, without being simply 'trend' (for me that is a mistake, creating a timeless impact is far more valuable).
Unfortunately I was not able to take any photos from my seat that weren't a blurry mess with heads in the foreground, so I have none to share. There are plenty of good shots up on The Urban Silhouette but I did however shoot some cool runway videos on the Vine.
My Vine handle is Jenelle Witty, if you are using it too, let me know.

Phew! I think that is all, oh except not long ago I shot for Merrin and Gussy for their Syntony line and the first image is up on the site now, go take a look!

I was recently featured on Lovethymuse by the lovely Heidy who came to take pictures of my temporary home while in Perth. Check it out in full here.

While I lived in Perth for the past six months I stayed in several homes, but living alone in Mt Lawley suited me well. I was fortunate to have a nice spot which I could fill with fresh flowers, have friends over at any time, paint or draw at my leisure and read peacefully. I was a short walk up to Beaufort Street to grab coffee or groceries, (and books!) to Hyde Park to lie in the grass or run, and to walk into the city. Although doing this in heels meant blisters by the time I got into Northbridge. I had lived in this area while at WAAPA, and I love this spot, if you are heading to Perth, ensure you stay around here. Incidentally if I move back again for a bit... well, who knows?

Now that I am here in Adelaide I have rediscovered the shoes and jackets I had left behind, I got so sick of wearing the same pairs. I am glad I had a few that were versatile to keep me going though.
Asking me what were my favourite things, Heidy photographed a few bits and pieces of colourful treasures, books, and more.
She also got me to climb up on the roof.

I love to climb and be up high, and the view into the city was stunning, but I must admit I did not have enough cups of tea up here. I did scare the neighbours who looked up shocked and bewildered, but calmed down once they saw my cup. The calming powers of tea huh? My Mum actually gave me that cup to take to Perth five years ago, and by a twist of fate, I ended up renting from people who had inherited my stuff when I left the first time. When I first moved in I found my chair, hat stand, mugs, wine glasses, and more. Needless to say, this little 'Burrow' felt like home.

Wearing:
1 & 2. Tigerlily Dress, Tom Ford Glasses 3, 5 & 6. Kim Barton cape dress, 7 & 8. Sass and Bide pants, Merrin and Gussy cuff, Karen Walker ring, Mimco headpiece (worn as necklace), 9. Flannel lace top, Flannel silk Dress, Flannel Silk tiered skirt and Lover serpent lace dress, 10. Lover Serpent dress, 11. Merrin and Gussy Cuffs, 12. Sportsgirl cage heels, ASOS Sienna heels, Gorman orange pumps, Chloe Susana Studded boots, Gorman embroidered boots and Gorman leather sandals

Please head to lovethymuse.com to see more.
Thank you to Heidy for shooting this, I had a lot of fun. xx Nell
