A pale blue shirt may have been on my Capsule Wardrobe list (back here) but had not yet made itself into my actual wardrobe until last week. Hunting one down that was not chambray was surprisingly difficult considering it is such a simple, useful basic. I found two- one of which was NOT cut properly at all (which I was really surprised by as it was Witchery and I know they know better!) the second was this one from Sportscraft which hit the nail on the head. I have since worn it a lot, for work, with jeans, black leather shorts… It is a typical capsule wardrobe item perfect to mix and match with your other pieces. I am not 100% sure it worked out right with this skirt, as the fabric should ideally be softer and the buttons open lower to get the look just right. However, I was all too thrilled to throw on this skirt and share it with you. I love light grey skirts, the flares on this are that feminine touch that I can either embrace, or cover with a long knit or leather motorcycle jacket to toughen up. I will definitely post this skirt worn with other options. It also comes in blue (see here) which I think worn with a cream chunky knit jumper would be amazing. I don't need another one, that would be greedy, so someone else better get the blue version so I can appreciate it. Deal?! :)

I can not stress enough how glad I am that I added white leather shoes and a clutch to my staples, I have worn them repeatedly. They make for a nice change to black and often pair better with lighter hues without taking away too much attention. As long as you find good quality pieces, white leather will do you many favours. Upon looking up the link to this Katherine Dunmill clutch to add above, I noticed her new 'Call To Arms' military inspired collection is online. The Fabian Strategy Bucket Bag is incredible… looks like a new item has been added to my wish list.

I asked Mario to shoot these photos minutes before we headed out to an event the other week, only to review them and feel overdressed (it probably need not have been a 'heels' event and I wasn't convinced the dress looked right on me). Looking back at the photos, the dress looks fine, I loved it for a year before finding it on sale and buying it. I had tried it on back in June, but couldn't justify the $250+ price tag, particularly for a dress like this in winter! The satisfaction of finding an item you have coveted for months on sale is far greater than buying an impulse purchase anyway.
If you have been following my Building A Capsule Wardrobe series, you will happy to know my next one is all about the staple dresses I think every woman should have in her closet. This one breaks my no prints rule, but being blue and white and suited to my shape, it is considered a happy extra. :)

So I told you I got a couple of pieces at the Peachy store launch? Well, this beautiful, soft leather top by Australian label Hyde was one of them. With summer in mind I know I need a few good tops, and I never can go past leather. What do you think?

Capsule Wardrobe Vol 2.0

Continuing on in my Capsule Wardrobe series... last time I talked Casual, Work and Cocktails, read it here.

EVERY DAY
Jeans and a t-shirt, simple, comfortable and accessible.
Anyone can wear this, and should feel free to.
I probably wear these boots too much but I love them. I twisted my ankle the other week, and have only attempted heels once since, these semi heel boots have been saving me. They are loose, a good heel height and great quality.
Truth be told, my love of rock music, is something I tend to want to share with the world. I never know who any pop stars are, it takes a long time for me to work out who the big artists are (more than a year before I worked out who Lady gaga was- not kidding). Rock though- I am all about that.

MEETINGS
I have worn a variation of this to work, then to fashion events, and meetings. It is a good outfit when you have to go from one thing to another without time to change.
I love a pencil skirt, and pairing it with grey marle and an interesting hem line? Love. I like that I can throw this together with a white or black shirt, blazer, or a block colour for something different. I know grey is a bit of a nothing colour, (as talked about here) but it goes well with everything, so any piece of clothing in grey is good in my books.
Neoprene is not for everyone, but personally, I can't get enough.
For some reason I do like to wear pink, (despite what Karl says), it makes a nice change.
This Vivienne Westwood bag I have had for YEARS, it fits a lot in, the plaid somehow manages to work with a lot of outfits- I particularly enjoy when it clashes with the rest of the look (to an extent- I won't pair it with yellow). I talked about these heels last time- prepare to see the same items a few times, capsule wardrobe and all.

WINTER

So it does get cold here, and this teal coat has been my favourite winter coat for years. I spotted this one in Madison magazine then hunted it down from Sportsgirl of all places, back in 2008. Teal is a beautiful colour, in small doses. I am a sucker for military inspired coats, this one fits like a glove and keeps me warm.
These Italian wool leggings are warm, feel beautiful, and tick a few sporty boxes.
Pairing them with an oversized shirt, or this lace top makes it feel less like I am wearing leggings as pants. :)

Sportsgirl Coat, Flannel Lace Top, Alexander Wang Leggings, Ballet flats, Mimco Quilted Wallet, and Oroton Notebook.

Opening Night

A quick post of my opening night outfit for The Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
Shots taken in the entry to the Winter Garden under the warm festoon glow- you can just see the side of the vendor stalls I designed! More photos to follow of the festival and my involvement.
I love anything black and white, and green- so this was on my wish list, and when it went up on sale (here), I had to nab this dress! Acne do some really cool stuff- and I am always keen to find some non-printed pieces! (Prints mostly freak me out, and print on print is something I can not usually handle- on me. It is a little too cute, and I don't really like that). A big thank you to those who offered to lend me some pieces to wear on the opening nights- sadly I was too busy to get out to pick anything up, but I would have loved to have worn your amazing pieces. Another time perhaps.

We are open! The 2013 Adelaide Cabaret Festival is now yours to enjoy. After a long six months (for me, longer for some) the hard work from the team at the Adelaide Festival Centre has paid off as Cabaret lovers soak in the splendour. The festoons are swagged, warming the moody atmosphere, the artists are killing it in each venue, the drinks are being poured and the sequins and furs are parading around the foyers. Forget Mad March, June is the festival season, in the key of the unexpected.

Pictured above are a few of my behind the scenes instagram shots (find me @jenellewitty), with a post to follow to share a LOT more, and a shoot that Benjamin of Kolonel Mustard kindly shot for me. Wearing these amazing Alexander Wang heels, Josh Goot Shirt and ASOS Wrap Skirt. Benjamin and I shot these photos for a local press competition (gotta be in it right?) in the theme of pop-up. Designing a pop up Winter Garden- with vendor stalls and a nice place to hang out and grab dinner or spiced mulled wine during the festival, as well as a pop up Champagne Bar, and Italian Bistro, I certainly know all about that topic! We dragged one of the thrones I made up for the program launch a couple of months ago out to the front of the Centre, much to the amusement of my co-workers (I assume most do not know about my blog life!). Although we didn't win that comp, I thought I'd share these photos all the same.

You too can strike a pose on the throne- just wander through the Festival Theatre Foyer and find one, then tweet or instagram your shot tagging #adcabfest and @adelaidecabaret to see it pop up on the live twitter feed projected around the festival. There are incredible shows going on until the 22nd, the club opens up late each night, and there is a ton to discover, so, it is your time to...

This one is a little sneaky post. I did not have time to take outfit shots on Friday, so these are some taken a week or so ago. I had been planning to wear this outfit to an event in September, but it had turned out to be a really cold night. Kat Ellis of K Ellis Jewelry custom made this fun neck piece for me to match my Sass and Bide neon clutch. Her pieces are really pretty, with cameo rings, beaded bracelets, statement colourful neck pieces and a lot more.

Knowing I was about to participate in the Black Out Challenge, I thought I would give wearing non black accessories a try for this shoot. Normally I would throw on a pair of black pumps.

These shots were taken near where I had been living in Scarborough beach, I kept jogging past this building admiring the paintings, I knew I had to shoot there before I moved.
So consider this a bonus and alternative to day Five of the Black Out. I wont add colour meanings as I have covered most of these before.
(For the record on Friday I donned a mint dress from Zara and silver ballet flats, it was pretty girly!)

Thanks to Emma Robinson for taking these shots for me.
Be sure to check out K Ellis Jewlery here

Cherry Gardens

Feeding my favourite horses, in the beautiful surrounds of the Adealide Hills, I was so happy to have an afternoon spent hanging with my brother while I was back in town. Having started this day out with the lovely SA Designers Brunch (see my full post here), I did not want to leave.
Those green rolling hills, lush trees and breathtaking views always distract my driving!
