Ted Baker has launched their own store in Adelaide. Previously established in David Jones stores, Ted Baker relies on word of mouth, unique packaging rather than marketing. The first collections were sold with a gold fish in a bag attached to the label.
When looking at the fit out of the first SA store, Ted and his team looked at our unique wine culture as one of our greatest exports. The store uses this as a theme, with touches such as corkscrews in the service counter, a world map made out of cork, wine rack inspired fittings, wine-glass chandeliers, red-wine coloured curtains and wall paper patterns and so on. Penfolds came on board for the VIP launch night to match fashion, wine and cheese boards.
The womens collections embrace quality fabrics, feminine florals, colours and cuts.
Personally I love the mens collections. These are fun, a little quirky and a lot more personalised than a great deal of readily available menswear. Printed shirts and ties with rabbits, fish, hounds are partnered with check wool three piece suits. Fly hooks with feathers pinned to the lapels complete the look. How often do men get to make a statement, without involving a slogan t-shirt or cap?
Page boy caps, beautiful leather satchels, shoes add the finishing touches. I could see pieces and full looks for several of my male friends, I hope they are reading! :)
A quality store, I appreciated the super fun floating pen with a moving London black Cab, it is my new handbag staple. So much fun, no one is going to be stealing that one.
Oh and the Ted Baker dark organic fair-trade Raspberry and lemon oil chocolate block was a nice touch. Marketing schmakerting.
