U.S Army Shirt from Old Midwest American Vintage, Mickey Mouse Baseball Tee, Levis jeans, Converse Sneakers, Zara tote bag, Ray Bans.

Anyone can wear jeans, so I don't often post up casual looks- but this is a pretty typical look for me. I like military touches, and the sportiness of this Mickey tee. As a layer item, or jacket, this vintage Army shirt was just the item I had been trying to track down. Old Midwest American Vintage is one of my favourite vintage stores, and it is right in the heart of Adelaide. With amazing quality inexpensive cleverly curated pieces for men and women, the store is the coolest spot. I fall in love with a new pair of cowboy boots each time I go in, but I don't wear mine enough to justify more. Of the stores in Adelaide, this is one to recommend- if you are looking for something a little unique or quirky, check it out. Hidden behind Rundle Street, on Ebenezer Place, look for the taxidermy brown bear. 

On a run around day sourcing for The Adelaide Cabaret Festival, this easy look took me from Bunnings, carrying plants to lifting furniture, painting and a quick lunch. A big thanks to my Mum for being my assistant on this day- driving around with me sourcing, taking these photos, even going into an Adult store with me to buy handcuffs for Tommy Bradson's show. She may not have known where to look ("Down" Tommy later told her when she relaid the story!), but the gag in the show was hilarious, and paid off.

This weekend I headed out to the Art Gallery of South Australia for the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class and presentation from Adelaide's Muse Boutique. While I am definitely not the car buff (or even one of them) in my family, but I can appreciate a shiny new car, glasses of Moët and a whole lot of incredible fashion.

Muse Boutique- operating online as The Style Set (thestyleset.com) stock my fave Australian label Josh Goot and the best of the best international European labels such as Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, The Row, Helmut Lang, Celine, Proenza Schouler, and the list goes on (and on). Needless to say we were treated to some amazing looks. I didn't bring along a camera, so please excuse these instagram accounts of the evening. It was really nice to catch up with Benjamin, Kira-Lee (and hear a little about her adventures to NYFW this month!) and a host of other Adelaide bloggers.

Flowers of Pigalle

Day Two of the Black Out Challenge.

I donned a simple oversized white tee, and cotton floral vintage skirt.

I bought this skirt while vintage shopping with friends in Pigalle, as we explored Montmarte and surrounds.
I think my heart beat clearer in Paris.
I find it really hard to fall in love. In Australia.
In Paris, it was far easier.

At the time, this skirt felt like magic, as did my surrounds, company and experiences.

Paired with white Sienna heels care of ASOS, this outfit is fun, girly, and breezy.

I didn't have time to have a picnic on day two, which is what this skirt feels designed for. I did wear it in Versailles, where we ate up a French feast. So amazing.

I Love visiting Hyde Park, the fig trees and gardens are lovely.

I am hoping the weather holds out for the rest of the week! I got blown away this morning in my dress as a storm came in.

Colour meanings:

Day Two

White:

Is a colour of kindness, purity, loyalty, wholeness, completion, light, openness and truth, new beginnings and clarity.
To wear white implies a wholesomeness and purity, it is a refreshing way to de-clutter. 

Purple:

A colour of good judgement, spiritual fulfilment, it is the perfect combination of blue and red, purple is one of the most appealing colours, favoured by artists and children. To wear purple tones is to inspire your imagination, fantasy, spirit, desire for magic. It connects you to universal sources of energy. It is sensitive and compassionate, idealistic but can lead to frustration, as the colour purple is not grounded in reality.
Traditionally purple dyes were the most expensive and therefore saved for royalty.

Relax in Vintage at The Myer Centre 21st

The Myer Centre is celebrating it's 21st birthday and the Adelaide Fashion Festival was the perfect program to host a big party! Guests were given party poppers upon arrival, which established the fun party mood. Hosted by the gorgeous Filip Odzak, the show was full of dancing, celebrating the styles and music from the 90s through to today. News clips and advertisements from the launch of the Myer Centre were a hoot to watch, taking us back to the magic of Dazzeland and those glorious (!) hair styles and fashions. 

Hammer Time!

Models grooved to 90s hits, wearing vintage pieces from Relax in Vintage, (who by the way also have amazing coffee, stop in, it is the new hot spot in the Centre). There were a few trends I remember wearing with pride, such as Blossom slip dresses, jelly sandals and Girlfriend slouchy flower hats. Oh and ankle boots with lace laces and socks. 

The leather tan aviator jacket was my favorite. There were definitely questionable choices, but there are touches of 90s fashions I don't mind revisiting... hello grunge culture.















I thought about it prior, and actually wished I had told them that I know of a stack of amazing ex Dazzleland pieces which are for hire... that would have added an extra touch to the set! Possibly I wanted to keep that one quiet as I have been eying off buying them for myself, but they are so massive, and I keep moving states, so would feel awful dumping them in a storage unit! We shall see when I get back in February...
It may just be working with David Bromley rubbing off on me... he has the most amazing collection of art, antiques and ex carnival pieces in his house, it always inspires me.
Note: I also haven't told David about these Dazzleland pieces, cause I KNOW he would want them!

I had so much fun photographing the night that I had to split my coverage into two halves. This is the first, the second will be up tomorrow, covering boutiques and stores who showed pieces from their summer collections.
Below are some social snaps and outfit shots. I was joined by the lovely Irene, Olivia and of course Benjamin, of Kolonel Mustard. Benjamin and I attended most of the festival shows together and stupidly we just realized, never had our photo taken together! The dapper gent wore his signature navy and black suits, and often noticed he was one of a small handful of men attending the events. (Come on guys, get to it!)
You can just see the gorgeous Gen and Cassie in this shot below, who were lovely to see always looking bright and colorful during AFF. Both were inspiring me not to wear black so often!

Officially a Vintage Eskimo

 

It is pretty cold hey? Went for a walk down the road, and made sure to rug up. This vintage coat has me feeling a little like an Eskimo, and I love it. Anyone for a bonfire?

Make-up Free Morning

 







This morning, feeling a little overwhelmed with the mess I have made in my room (after a long week it looks like I have had some sort of wardrobe explosion) I decided to pull out a few pieces and work out what I am going to do with them. So while enjoying a great coffee and amazing music care of Bob Dylan, I played dress ups.

I think my years almost falling head first into my giant dress up box have never ended. I some times went to other kids houses to play, and JUST DID NOT UNDERSTAND when they told me they did not have a dress up box. WHAT?! When I heard that, my heart would sink. I mean, what on earth did they do without one? How on earth did they ever play 'princesses' or 'warriors' or 'alice' or 'peter pan'?

I love sequins, so I was very happy to find this gorgeous mirrored, sequined, beaded jacket at Sportsgirl. I have a beautiful mirrored cotton dress from India, which Mum put in my dress up box as a kid. She'd been given it from a friend in the 70s and I wear it all the time.

Sigh, I better go clean up my mess. xx
