Another of my favourite places in Adelaide is the Botanical gardens and specifically the glasshouse and Cactus Garden. On this morning we were blessed with a very prominent sun, very welcome in Autumn. I am wearing clothes here that I had left behind in boxes, after I had gone through them and compiled a mass (aka five or six big boxes) of clothes to give away. Not having time to get in touch with anyone my size in Adelaide I left this pile for my Mum to distribute (thanks Mum!) - donate to the Op shop or to anyone she thinks might want them. My tastes had changed so much, that the bright, colourful and heavily patterned things didn't seem very 'me' anymore. So, someone out there is going to end up with brand new clothes from all sorts of designers (unworn D&G, Alice Mccall, Zimmermann etc). It feels good to let these go.

This week we got approved for a new place, so I will finally have a home of my own! No moving every three months! Yay! So now to find homewares, pack and move. Excuse me if I am absent for a few days. I have some cool projects coming up to share soon, so stick around.

I noticed that during a flower festival, there are a lot of people taking photos of flowers... While we went on a bright sunny day, I liked the moodiness of the shadows, and decided to play with this. So here is my take on a moody tulip festival inspired by 16th & 17th Century Dutch Vanitas oil paintings.

Told you I got a little excited over flowers.
Considering the colours, I thought to dress in a head to toe white look. White on white is once of my favourite looks for spring/ summer. It is just fresh, clean and considering I paired it here with a really oversized tee- super comfortable. This look accidentally turned out a little bit on the tennis player side- a product of my wanting to be super relaxed in this tee. This skirt is something I pair back with a stripe tee, chambray shirt or jumper all the time. I would otherwise work in a texture- such as lace, to a white on white look, or leather. In the past year I have added white heels to my collection, and find that I wear them a lot more than I ever expected. At times, a white heel is a refreshing change from black, and can be very eye catching.
This linen wrap skirt from ASOS is now $14.50! (see link above) I have it in both black and white, and wear them a ton, a good skirt never goes awry.

It wasn't just the tulips at Araluen that had me skipping around with glee. Camellias, Wattle, Magnolias,  Cherry Blossoms, waterfalls and so much more... all dazzling at every turn. Years ago on a humid 38 degree day I had picnicked at Aralauen Botanical Gardens, located just outside of Perth, but it was nothing like this. Vowing to come back for the spring festival, I finally did. It did not disappoint, with tulips of every shape, colour, size planted all over the park, I danced and spun around (freaking my partner out- my forgetfulness over my weak ankle causing some concern) I think I was high on pollen!

I took a gazillion photos, playing around with light and the camera, so I will be posting more of these.
Running around in these boyfriend jeans, hunted down after months of searching, and backless lace top was perfect for wandering, climbing, picnicking and squatting to shoot photos. The rips and the lace compliment each other just right, in a perfect masculine/ feminine. Happy days.

Camilla and Marc Jumper, Camilla and Marc Jeans, Marc Jacobs Ballet Flats, Tom Ford Glasses

After all of the whirlwind that has been the Cabaret bump in and opening weekend, I tried to give my mind some peace, myself a bit of r and r, and appreciate a new space. I guess considering we live so close to one of the great wine regions in Australia, and my family are big wine lovers- I easily became somewhat of a wine brat. In my free time I love to go and visit wineries, do tastings, eat cheese boards or picnics, spot the animals on nearing farms as you wind your way through breathtaking vineyards, and dream about climbing trees or hills as you pass them by. It feels like traveling, even when you can not 'get away'.
When a conversation started with "We should go on a walk today" to "have you heard of this winery? It has beautiful gardens" it was quickly decided to go and check it out.

Lazy Ballerina is a boutique family run winery, producing an amazing Shiraz Vionier and Grenache (among other things), opposite the Kuitpo Forrest around the McClaren Vale region.
A few years ago some friends and I stayed in one of the cottages down the road, with a fire, no phone reception or technology, in bunk beds. It was awesome. We went on long walks through the forest, played board games, made up silly quizzes, did colouring in books (this was a particularly fun and regular activity, and much cooler than it sounds!) lazily played guitar and bongos. I can easily see myself recommending this sort of winter cozy weekend to anyone, with a stop in to visit the gardens and share a bottle (or two) and platter at Lazy Ballerina.

I had to take photos of the gardens- and share some with you. I could have snapped away for hours, as there is so much to see. The winery is set up with tables hidden all over the place, so you can submerge yourself with the views, and let the wine uncork new or old stories.
