Bec Bruise Mobile Style

Bec is my gorgeous cousin. She is a baking, roller derby chic smashing lady who never fails to look stylish and just a tad hard core. I have shown friends pictures of her before and they flipped, so I thought I would share some with you... Also am posting up inspiration pics from real life men and women I know and love, so I am not always coveting celebs, bloggers, or runway shots. Plus they are amazing, inspire me and hopefully will inspire you too!

Inset is a pic of the two of us at her birthday, me left, Bec right, Ninja Turtles cake and all! You can read what she is up to here. Hope all is well! Looking forward to sharing some pics from my latest shoot- they rock!

Bobbi, Bobbi-Baby!

The muse worthy Bobbi Jo. So much love for her. Bobbi is probably the most fun person I have ever known. She is a dancing designing choc full of life whirlwind! She inspires me, makes me laugh till I cry, is honest, with a wardrobe full of insanely amazing dresses and pieces. She wears bows better than Minnie Mouse. I can tell her anything, I miss her like MAD and can not wait to see her in Prague soon. I know so many muse worthy women I thought I would start to share some with you. Bobbi I hope to be friends with for life. Her style is so cute I can not even describe it. Enjoy these pics. I have added some of her and I cause she just makes me so happy!

Little Red

I see red, I see red, I see red!

Once upon a time, there was a girl who lived in a village near a forest. Whenever she went out, the girl wore a red riding cloak, so everyone in the village called her Little Red Riding Hood.

Sadly this illustration didn't photograph well, and I am without an A3 scanner at the moment, so some of the colours/ proportions look a little off on here, but I am not going to change it on photoshop. There is a film due out of Red Riding Hood, for which the costumes look cool, but I haven't heard good reviews for the rest so we shall see...

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I have spent the last week of the Fringe seeing shows, most of which were great. If you are in Adelaide I hope you got the chance to check some out. Seeing Nosferatu on the big screen with an incredible new score and live orchestra was a highlight.

Thinking of people in Japan, my best wishes are with you.

Second Semester

Starts right here! Ten weeks to go and Oh-so much work to do!

We are gearing up for our exhibition, which opens October 25th at the QV1 Building at the top of St George's terrace. Genevive and I volunteered to be the reps from Design for our meetings and gather ideas etc. So exciting, there are so many cool things to exhibit from the shows. Props, costumes, sound tracks, photos, prompt copies and so much more it's going to be great.

This week I'll be working on my event design model and my work on Chaos continues, it's sorta more relaxed as there aren't a billion meetings to attend for a few weeks. We have some pretty cool classes for our final semester too- and one great Icons project, in which we design based around someone we love. I am thinking of doing Amelia Earhart, a woman with adventure in mind. Plus she was a damn stylish woman!

Over the next few weeks I think I'll profile some of the WAAPA students, since they are such interesting folk. So watch this space.

Yey for warm sunny days in winter. Much love. xx

I think I did it again...

Irene and I. Shot by Cleo Luneburg.
Me in the offending Sass and Bide Cardi.

My best friend and I live apart. It is sad. She is half way across the country from me (or, perhaps I am, from her?). I miss her so much. I am counting down the months till we can hang out again. This year has been the longest we have ever gone since we met years ago without seeing each other. By the time we are in the same town, it will have been eleven months since we say each other last (and even then I was in town for about four days)!

When we have caught up over the past few years while I have been living here, and her there, a strange thing has occurred. We have both shown up wearing a new outfit, or part there of, and then discovered that we were wearing the same thing! Once or twice she has met me wearing something where I am like " Hey! I have that!" and vice versa. We have different styles too, and wear things differently. She is a master at styling, I learn so much from her. She can come look at my wardrobe and put together outfits that I never would have thought of. I think I am a little more crazy than her, she wouldn't wear some of my 'dress-up' clothes, which actually I tend to save for when I am back home... I have managed to collect some really odd pieces over the years, some which I have never worn, but cherish all the same. She is classic and modern and so so gorgeous.

This weekend I got a new cardigan, and later when looking through my old phone I found a picture message she sent me about two years ago with what may be a longer version of the same Cardigan that she had just bought. So I think I have done it again!

Sorry Irene-my cupcake!

Santa Rosa Fire!

Super housemates / heroines Jenelle and Chloe adventures!
The case of the HOUSE FIRE!

This is a story of fire. And the way it can make you laugh, then have nightmares.

As Chloe and I sat in our living room watching a Nancy Meyers film, our youngest (housemate) Caleb, who is teaching himself to cook, yells out “Guys, I have a bit of a fire!”

And sure enough, he did. Despite his insistence that he “followed the recipe”, the pot he had heated (for a good fifteen minutes) half a litre or more of oil in to deep fry his chips was ablaze, and soon our kitchen looked to be the same. The house, we observed as we began to choke, was absorbed by a thick cloud of heavy smoke. This did not look good for our heroines.

As I attempted to find a fire extinguisher, (which turns out we don’t have) Chloe rang her parents for advice and Caleb, was busy being Caleb. (Whom we love). To stop the flames licking and slightly melting the cupboards above the stove, we had to stop it. We sent Caleb off to the nearest houses for a fire extinguisher, and covered the pot with the lid. It emitted smoke for a while, and when Caleb returned in vain (he had tried two houses, both of which were empty of owners and didn’t notice the families playing in the front yards across the street), we picked up the pot with holders and carried it outside. From there Caleb did the honours of hosing it off. A meter thick steam cloud ‘whooshed’ above in spectacular but never to be repeated fashion.

Leaving the doors and windows open, the three of us, still coughing up smoke left to lie in the driveway and breathe again. I guess it was really not helpful for Caleb that Chloe and I to broke into hysteric laughter, but well to be honest, that is what happened next. Rolling on the driveway as the day faded, our lungs recovered, Caleb hung his head in shame, and Chloe and I reminisced over all of the crazy things that had happened in our time living together. So far, this was our first fire. Somehow Caleb just didn’t find this as funny as we did.

The nightmares part? Well that came later that night as I slept. Yellowy-orange flames overtaking the kitchen, spreading into the house, and no fire extinguisher to be found.
