Seed Heritage Waistcoat (similar by Wish here), Saba Flag Print T-Shirt, Dr. Denim Jeans, Isabel Marant Bekket Sneakers, Lack Of Color Fedora, Tom Ford Glasses.

A waistcoat can be a pretty superfluous item of clothing. They do little to warm the body, but can add an unexpected touch to an outfit, and ultimately express a little extra personality. Worn either casually like this over jeans and a t-shirt, or with a corporate look, a waistcoat will give you something different. As a transpersonal piece, it can make for an excellent layering item, or simply a versatile piece to throw over a regularly worn outfit, to give it a refresh. I mean, given the look I am in above, jeans and a t-shirt is nothing new, but the vest makes it a little more unique.

This waistcoat, an oversized double breasted waistcoat from Seed Heritage was one piece I could not walk away from. I picked this one up on sale, unpinned the tag and draped it over myself before I even got back to the car. It is a loose, somewhat man-style piece that I have since worn with a dress, a pair of shorts and of course jeans. Although this is by far a non-vital wardrobe piece, I can not recommend enough a waistcoat or vest just to try something a little different.
This week I have decided to share this item two ways. Obviously, the first is pretty laid back, I wore it to breakfast the other morning in Leederville, around which we later wandered- snapping photos, window shopping and checking out the farmers markets.

Leederville is a good spot for late night food, has a bunch of cool stores, a great cinema and cafes. The best place to grab food is from Duende, which is all about Spanish tapas and incredible sherry. If you thought sherry was an outdated addition to the forgotten Fortified's etc section of the menu, you were wrong! Sherry can be amazing, and much to my delight, super dry rather than sweet.
My next look in this two-ways-to-wear will be up later this week. I did notice that Revolve have a huge section on vests and waistcoats so I will add that link below for you to check out.

Isabel Marant Scarlet Boots, Witchery Waterfall Tee, Isabel Marant Sequin Vest, Dr. Denim Jeans, Kailis Pearl Necklace

After I bought these boots, which ticked the box of 'having lusted after for months and found on sale' Nadine (of Modern Girls in Vintage Pearls) commented that she looked forward to seeing how I style them. Well Nadine, this post is for you. Shot weeks ago, first thing on a Sunday morning, sleepy eyed and with a hint of the Sunday morning grimace.

For the first 'blog-post-wear' I went for all black but textural. Actually to list cotton, denim, leather, suede, pony hair and sequin together sounds like a recipe for overkill, but sticking to black on black, it works. This vest is one of my unnecessary pieces, it serves no function other than to accessorise, and yet I seem to pack it to take with me whenever I relocate. There are so many sequins sewn into it it is something like chain-mail or a birds feathers. I love to wear all black and keeping things interesting with textures makes all the difference. This sequin vest thrown over a silk top or dress adds weight, layered under a blazer adds a flash of sparkle. Had I bought it in another colour I would have sold it on eBay years ago, but in black, it is less over the top and more grunge. Think Blondie not Beyonce. (PS. As I JUST DON'T GET Beyonce, NEVER think of me and Beyonce, please. Just don't!)

One of my favourite ways to mix black textures is with a lace top or dress and leather motorcycle jacket. As I have just decided to keep my leather pants, I look forward to pairing them with a chunky black long cardigan waiting for me to come collect it from storage when I visit Adelaide in May. I am SUPER excited to get back there, if not to see everyone, to stop thinking about my boxes of clothes. (Mum, I am looking forward to seeing you too, but I admittedly think about my boxes quite a bit. Particularly the Hermes, Moschino and silk pieces I left behind. Sorry.)
So that is my tip… buy it in black, mix up the textile and team with a natural hair and makeup look to avoid any issues with looking 'goth'.
Oh, and Rock and Roll, NEVER Pop-RnB.

Have Fun

I recently told you that I wear a ton of jeans and t-shirts, I wasn't kidding. In the past I avoided blogging a simple jeans-&-tee look purely because it didn't feel like I had made much effort for the blog. Anyone can wear this, so why blog about it?
Well, I suppose it is about a few things;
One, I see a lot of bloggers in jeans, and I don't feel offended by it.
Two, I actually wear this sort of thing, and I can do with proving that I have more than cocktail dresses and high waist pencil skirts in my closet.
Three, you can take a jeans look from day to night with the change of a shoe- slip on a good heel, team with a blazer, and it transforms from this casual lunch- errand running outfit to something entirely different. Comfort and flexibility. Win.
I really do believe people are more attractive when they are comfortable, happy and themselves.

Zoe Karssen makes great soft t-shirts with quirky logos/ slogans such as this one.
I chose this because my brother points out to me often that I say "Have fun!" each time he (or most people) leave. It is pure habit, as I often wish them this as they head off to mundane places like the bank, the letterbox or the bathroom....
Yep.
Pure Habit.

This week friends of mine were talking about style, what kind of 'style' we would be described as having, etc. Personally, as much as I enjoy getting all dressed up, I do like to keep things comfortable.
Big platform heels, super tight dresses, fake tans and cleavage/ stomach revealing clothes are really not my thing. REALLY not.
I believe the conversation went,
Mikey: J, have you seen the Parisian Street Style book?
Me: I feel like 'undone Parisian' is my style, with a rock twist.
Mikey: Thats pretty much what this book says is true parisian style
Heidy: Ha ha. Let's do it... lets all move to Paris. :)

To get specific, an oversized shirt, undone hair (which I really should do something with), cropped jeans, and a great pair of classic sunglasses, are a cool, comfortable look in my books.
I do love these shoes, the style, even if I was unsure about them at first. The suede is buttery soft, and that height is a bonus for someone as short as I am. Isabel Marant continuously comes up with shoes I go nuts over. Hello, these are the best thing ever!
Is anyone else thrilled that Spring is here? I am so happy! It is the best time of year, flowers, sunshine...

Today I went sun-baking for a walk in a sundress in winter.
Gotta love Perth, the faux winter Saturdays are warm, sunny and glorious. I finally got to wear this Lover dress which has hung brightly in my wardrobe for months. Cobalt blue and bright.
Happy days. PS I will shoot these awesome shoes soon- when I have someone around to shoot for me!
